since I have some time today...

First I would like to thank my students for giving me an early end of the year gift-it comes with kleenex and cold medicine. Yup they gave me the cold that has been going around despite hand washing, hand sanitizer, vitamin c etc. I started to feel icky Sunday. Went to school on Tuesday. Went to school yesterday until I went to the nurse at lunch-took my temp-started calling for a sub. 1 hour later they had found me one and I got to come home. Decided that I didn't want to do the whole lunch search again today so I stayed home from the beginning.
I will be going to school tomorrow though because its Daddy Doughnut day! And because I left my classroom in complete end of the year/trying to organize/mess chaos.

So today I have spent the day worrying about the kids and reading hilarious updates on the classroom activities that I get via text from my classroom para. To start the morning she sent me one that said, "B just told the sub he is creepy!" I laughed out loud at that one. Hilarious! Guess kiddos react differently when they go from having a 20 something woman teacher to a (probably) 60 something male teacher.

I had so much I needed to do today! Yikes! I have fathers day gifts to complete and laminate, testing to do, cleaning/organizing/inventorying to get started. It will have to wait until tomorrow...

I only have 7.5 more days of school! YIKES! It seems like there is so much more to do before then. We have a field trip next week. Kindergarten does a themed day each day of the last full week. Monday is Pajama/movie/popcorn day, Tuesday is Wacky/Summer birthday day, wednesday=fieldtrip to the beach, Thursday is character dress up day and friday is park/library or field day.

After reading blogs for most of the day today I have one question. How do you all have your classrooms all packed up and DONE on the last day?! It is going to take me several days to finish after the last day! And the inventory is a whole different story. I do plan on having the kids continue to help me out-but a 5 year old can only be so helpful.

Anyway. Sorry for all the rambling. I hope to post some pictures soon. I swear I have been taking them.

I am a big time blogging bum.

I have not blogged for real in what seems like forever. I just don't seem to have ANY extra time. I'm going crazy.

So much has happened!
First: I only have 12.5 more days. I am very jealous of all of you who are done this week. My kids brains have checked out already for sure and I'm very close to losing my mind.

Second: I got class pets. Yes I did. We are now the proud owner of two hermit crabs. The students named them Poptart and Spiderman. I may have rigged their voting after they came up with the list of names. I just couldn't have crabs named Money and Crystal-call me whatever you would like I couldn't deal with that.

Third: I learned that the BEST way to get my students to be still and quiet is to tell them to lay on their stomachs in a circle and put the crabs in the middle. If the kids move or get loud the crabs don't come out. Works like a charm every time! I love it!

Fourth: The words "end of the year checklist" are terrible. They include stress, loss of sleep and many extra hours.

Fifth: I got student 25. ugh. That is TOO many!

I have been keeping up on blogs just not writing. I read them on my phone now-FANTASTIC! But it's harder to write posts on there.

I hope to have some news to share with you all in the next month. But for now I just have to make you wait-mostly because I don't really have the information yet. All  I can say is that my fingers and toes are crossed.

In packing up my stuff (which I started today) I am VERY excited to try a new method of organization. I just hope it works for me.

Enjoy these last days of school. I have a feeling that on that last day my car ride home will make it necessary for me to wear sunglasses the rest of the day.

Have a great 3 day weekend all of you who are still in school!

Short and sweet

Life has been nuts. A school is crazy and so are my kids!! We are learning all about the ocean and it's creatures. As part of this we are getting hermit crabs. We don't get out of school until June 12 so we will still have time to enjoy them. I am taking friday off to go to a tennis coaching class. This should be fun but a bit redundant as I have already coached high school tennis. Oh well. I hope to write a longer post tomorrow. From my computer instead of my Phone. Hope you are having a great first week of may! Happy may day!

Today...I remembered my camera!

So I have taken my camera to school a couple times this week. And now I actually remembered to bring it home too! It has been a super crazy week topped off with a field trip tomorrow.
My goal was to get to take all of my little jewels-but alas one proved today that she does not get that privilege and another is walking a VERY fine line (today she tried to shut me in the door...). I am waiting to hear from her grandma right now actually. But here is a sneak peek into my classroom :)

The papers in the basket that I need to look at and return...ugh

The "key" for our math coloring sheet

table 1

table 2

table 3. (yes I use EVERY single chair. I have 25 kids!)

Hard at work!

finishing up some morning work before moving on.

Had to move away from everyone else so he could focus.

The green monster-he is super sweet just won't take off the coat :)

I survived the day. And I was pretty pleased with my outfit today :) Hand me downs from my little sister are always good!
Have a FABULOUS Friday!
Saturday morning I am going clam digging! I can't wait! Haven't been in a year.

My week so far...

So I have had an exhausting week already and it's only Tuesday! Yikes!
Yesterday I had my sister who is 14 and her friend come to school with me all day! AWESOME! I love having extra help that is willing to just jump in and do what is needed without prompting! They helped me prep and they got to help with 2 cute projects. I will do my best to remember my camera to take pictures tomorrow. Lots of fun was had. And one of the two of them fell asleep in the car on the way home. haha. My sister commented, "I don't know why I'm so tired-it's not like I did that much." Welcome to the world of Kindergarten-complete exhaustion.

Today we had MORE visitors! I didn't tell the kids yesterday. I waited until this morning and only told 2 kids who was coming. They kept the secret. My mom, step dad and sister all came by to meet the kids I talk about all the time on their way out of town for their spring break. So awesome! I seriously tell stories to them ALL THE TIME-now they can put a face to the stories. Even better was that they jumped in and read to the kids! Kiddos loved it and so did I. Really wish I would have had my camera!

Tomorrow is wednesday...and a HALF DAY for the kiddos! Meetings for me in the afternoon then on to costco, dollar tree and probably the grocery store. Then home to get some cleaning done-I hope.

My whole family and my friends are ALL on spring break this week...while I work. My break isn't until the 3rd week of April! But I am hoping that will help with the super long month of May at least a little.

Tonight I baked some muffins for the class tomorrow so that they can celebrate the music teachers birthday with him. They made him a birthday book today-they wrote what they like about music. My favorite was "I like music because Mr. S is funny." Haha. They also colored some very lovely cupcakes on the pages.

Time to go get something done oh and probably eat some dinner.
Happy 81st birthday to my Grandpa!

currently...and a long week

So the last post I did was about losing a teacher at our school-it made it a LONG week for us staff. The service was yesterday, it was very nice. I don't think there was a dry eye in the place-3 of her current students talked. Then the class released balloons and sang "You are my Sunshine"-so sweet.

Now on to happier things!

I went bowling last night. SO FUN! Haven't been bowling in a LONG time. I was with very fun people and we had a great time! Doesn't hurt that I bowled really well-for me. I got a 158 :)

Oh and I saw The Lorax in 3D last week. AMAZING! I absolutely LOVED it! Now I know why the kiddos couldn't stop talking about it.

Tomorrow my little sister and her friend (who are on spring break this week-don't remind me) are coming to school with me ALL DAY to help! Hooray for extra help! I take whatever I can get!

My currently this month:

Go see Farley.

Happy April Fools day. It is now time to go call my grandpa and tell him that he has a spider in his hair.

sunshine?!!!

Yesterday I spent my morning baking Irish Car Bomb cupcakes.

We have had GORGEOUS weather for 3 days! I am loving it! Today my plan was to spend some time outside and enjoy the sunshine. But it's cold and this morning I got a phone call from the school secretary telling me that one of our teachers passed away last night. We knew it was coming, she has been battling cancer all year. But it came sooner than everyone thought. She was still teaching 2 weeks ago. School tomorrow will be tough-she taught 6th grade for 25+ years in the same building. A wonderful woman-she is part of the reason I have the job I do as she was on the interview committee.
She will be greatly missed.

Tonight I am making fajitas for dinner.
Hope you are enjoying some sunshine!
I would appreciate it if spring break was coming sooner. (Mine isn't until the 3rd week of April...)
