July?! Really?!?!?! & currently

I can't believe it's July! Summer is going to fast-even with the fact that I have barely been sleeping. Apparently I deal with stress by not getting enough sleep (example-I was up until 3:30 on Friday night...)
Here is my currently. I will explain my answers.

Listening- I LOVE the Olympics! And the trials are just as good. I just love it! Tonight I have watched track and field and swimming. I have already set up to record more swimming, more track and field and gymnastics!

Loving-What teacher doesn't love summer. The weather here has been pretty good. We have definitely had some rain but nothing too bad. Today was absolutely gorgeous. I even bought the pup and little wading pool for the back yard since I don't really want to take her to the beach with all of the crazy people, their big cars and their fireworks and other explosives. (sorry for the run-on)

Thinking-I have had this same thought nearly every night since mid June. There have been about 3 nights that I have been asleep before midnight. Two of those were because I had interviews first thing in the morning.

Wanting- As mentioned above I have had 2 interviews. The first I wrote about before-for a music position. I didn't get it. I wasn't sure about teaching music-it made me nervous-but I would do it to work at this school. My second interview was on Thursday morning. It went very well I thought. They said I will know mid week this week. My not sleeping can be attributed to not knowing for sure what or where I will be teaching next year. Yes I already have a contract at my current school to go back to Kindergarten. But this job I am hoping for is my absolute dream job. It is at the school I have wanted to teach at for the last 10is years and it is 1st grade (this is my FAVORITE).

Needing-I have slowly been working my way through the house. Started with the office-pictures soon. Moved onto the kitchen/eating area. Then my home desk (not in the office-weird I know). Next up is the living room and my bedroom. When I say cleaning I mean organizing and thorough cleaning. And in some cases moving furniture.

1- Love You Forever-this is my absolute FAVORITE book! I think I have about 6 copies of it. Someday I will have the quote "I'll love you Forever,  I'll like you for always, as long as I'm living, my Baby you'll be." On a wall in a room in my house. I will never however drive across town and climb a ladder into my childs house and sneak into his bedroom-that would be creepy.
2-I have lots of professional books but I can't pick one that I really use. But at the moment I don't actually have one. When I find my favorite I will definitely share.

Time for me to try and maybe go to bed...Or sit and read. I finished my second book of the summer this morning! It feels so good to read a book just because I want to! Hope you are all having a great start to July! Hoping to do a picture heavy post very soon.

It's Wednesday and it's not wrong!

So I am linking up once again with Mrs. Davis at Carried Away In Kindergarten.
I actually remembered what day it was too. So glad she posted her linky so I actually had something to write about today.

So what is not wrong...
1) I had an interview this morning! It is at the school I have been dreaming about teaching at for a long time. Fingers crossed I get a job there for the coming year. Interview went well!

2) Today was the second day we have had GORGEOUS weather! I love living at the beach!

3) I took a nap in the sunshine on the deck while I listened to the ocean. PERFECT! (minus the sunburn...oops)

4) One of my best friends got her first teaching job today! I am so excited for her! She will be awesome with those middle school kids!

5) It's officially SUMMER! Happy Summer Solstice everyone!

Time to go watch So You Think You Can Dance.
Hope you had a wonderful wednesday!

Tomorrow....

I have an interview tomorrow. I don't usually get nervous but right now I can't sleep because I am nervous. It's at the school I have always wanted to work at. I already have a contract at my current school but this opportunity was too good to pass up. So here is to hoping I can get some sleep NOW.

You know it's summer when...

I didn't join in on the linky party earlier this month because it wasn't summer for me yet. I had to survive my last day of school first. (one little one fell asleep through the assembly then proceeded to come back to the classroom where she threw a screaming fit and kicked me. She stopped when I asked her if she really wanted the principal to take her to the bus on the last day. Then I had another little angel steal candy off of the poster card that the parents made me. grrr)

Anyway onto the things that make me aware that it is summer here.
You know it's summer when...
~You look at the clock at night and think I could go to bed now but whats the point?!
~you spend 8 hours in your classroom and actually get something done!
~You actually get to stay up and watch all of your shows at night!
~You don't have to set an alarm!!! (this is the BEST feeling!)
~You get to have bonfires on the beach with marshmallows
~you start planning for next year! (new theme, new organization, new morning routine, etc.)

It's only been 2 days! I LOVE SUMMER!!

Tomorrow...

IS THE LAST DAY OF SCHOOL! and the kiddos leave at 10:30.
I can't believe that it's already the last day of my first year of teaching. Holy Cow.
I have been gearing up for the last day for a while now. I spent my weekend making a slideshow DVD for my kiddos. I may have cried while I watched it before burning the discs...and I may cry tomorrow. Who knows. I am certainly going to miss walking past the bus after putting the kids on and hearing, "Love you!" and getting kisses blown at me. (Especially from the little girl they come from. She started the year basically nonverbal and not doing any work in the classroom. Now I can't get her to stop talking, showing me things, counting, telling me letter sounds etc. I will miss her so so much!)
These kids have taught me so much-not just as a teacher but as in life lessons. Some of them have experienced more than any 5 year old should and it just makes me sad.
I am extra super sad because a bunch of the kids are sick. Super nasty bug going around the class-3 kids in the ER over the weekend with fevers around 104. YIKES!

Today I took my dog to school. She was perfectly behaved and the kids LOVED her! I would take her everyday if I could. She had a calming effect on some of the kids and it was wonderful.

Time to get some sleep before tomorrow. Must finish the bachelorette first though. Rose ceremony... is it the "Most dramatic rose ceremony yet"?!?!?!? haha

Happy nearly summertime!

What's Not Wrong Wednesday!

I haven't done this in a very long time and I felt like I needed to today.
So I am linking up over at Carried Away in Kindergarten

Here are y five things that are NOT wrong this fine wednesday.

1-Today was the last Wednesday of the school year! We only go to school for 1.5 days next week then sweet summertime!

2-We spent the day at the beach today! Yes we took both kinder classes and braved the beach! It was very fun even with the wind and the kids and adults loved it!

3-I got to take my dad as one of the chaperones today and then he and I got to go have a (very) early dinner before we headed our separate ways to go home.

4-I came home and promptly took a nap in my wonderfully comfortable new chair that I bought a couple weeks ago for all of the reading I need to do this summer.

5-My kiddos were great today! We had fun and it was a great way to begin the serious wind down to the end of the year.

Hope you had a great Wednesday! (hoping to post some beach pictures tomorrow-camera battery is dead)

6.5 more teaching days...

I am very excited that I am the Someone New Sunday! Welcome to the new followers I have already heard from this morning!
Now on to the post I have been thinking about.

These last few days will be bittersweet. I have had a very challenging year but I'm not ready to say goodbye to these kids yet! I have had a total of 28 students this year with kids moving and kids coming. I am sitting at 25 right now...I think. Rumors are that one of mine up and moved last week with no notice.
As I was reading blogs the last couple days I came across a post here that brought me to tears. She puts it so perfectly. I know I will have more classes and that I will love them too-but this is my first class.
The other day one of the students in the other kindergarten class was in my classroom for reading. She noticed that I had a hello kitty bandaid on my finger-she asked why I had that kind and that wasn't what she was getting. I had to tell her that it came from my house not from school. Her response, "you have them for your kids?"
"No, I don't have any kids..."
"But A always says that you do."
"Nope no kids."

Then I thought about it. It could just be A making up stories (she is VERY good at this) but it could also be that she is going off of the discussion we had in class the other day. I was reading Love You Forever. (FAVORITE BOOK!) I was once again asked, "Teacher when are you going to get married?" I smile and respond with, "I don't know." "When are you going to have kids?" Again smile and "I don't know but that will be even longer. And I don't need anymore kids right now I have all 25 of you. That is all I can handle right now."
I mean this. They are my kids for 6.5 hours each day. They are exhausting, loud and sometimes drive me crazy. But then one of them will come up to me and just hug me. It makes everything better.

The Para that works in my room asked me the other day, "how do you do this all the time? why did you want to be a teacher?" Just then one of my littles that has caused many a headache came up and gave me a great big hug-for no reason. My response, "Yes I have rough and frustrating days but then that happens and it makes it all the boogers, vomit, tears and frustration worth it."

I am not one to cry in public but I can't guarantee anything on that last day-especially as I make that hour drive home...

Now I need to work on report cards and write letters to each of my kids. What I can't decide is if I should pass them out on the last day or wait and mail them with their first and last day of school portraits...Suggestions?
