Not really school related...at all. But exciting all the same!

So I have been spending a lot of time at school. But this post is not related. (I did spend an hour cutting out laminating this evening.)

Anyway.

Guess what happened on Tuesday?!?..........................................................................................................................................

 I became an Aunt! I am so so excited! I think I mentioned before that my mom got remarried nearly two years ago. Well that meant I gained 2 older sisters, an older brother and sister in law and another younger sister. ( I became the middle child!) Well my step-brother and his wife had a beautiful baby boy on Tuesday afternoon! His name is Finnian and I love him already. And I haven't even gotten to meet him! I may or may not have already hung 3 pictures of him in my classroom... No pictures here though, sorry. No social media for the little one. But you better believe I wrote about him in my welcome to my class letter I am mailing out (hopefully tomorrow).

There was something else I wanted to tell you...and now I can't remember. I am pretty sure that my new principal thinks I am crazy because I go to ask her questions and then can't remember until I get back to my classroom...then I have to walk back down the hall. Oh well.

I think I may take tomorrow and just work here at home...except I have letters to hang on my word wall board and I need to print/copy my letters and mail them...All day today I thought it was Friday. So I hadn't planned on going in.

Oh now I remember what I wanted to tell you. I found some funnies on pinterest tonight :)

Progress report #3? 4?

I'm breaking blogging rules and posting twice today. Sometimes breaking the rules is totally worth it!

So here is my classroom update for today. I feel like I actually made a bit of progress...maybe. Got my bunting hung up again after it fell down overnight. Needed something stronger than double sided tape. All taken care of. I started the morning meeting with the other 1st grade teacher. We figured out our schedules and figured out when to begin different parts of the curriculum. It was good-and productive. Then it was time for lunch because we were both exhausted and I needed to come home and let the dogs out.

My carpet area. Got bigger chairs for the computer tables. Need to set up my calendar area but I need it to be laminated first...

So there you have my classroom. Tomorrow I think my goal will be to get all of the little stuff put away. Then I can finish the other little stuff and do my bulletin boards! So excited for that! 

A summer recap...

I still have a couple weeks before school starts officially. But monday was our first meeting so I feel like summer is coming to a close. Here is a picture recap of my summer...

It was hot...so I bought the dog a pool. And my sister ended up in it...

4th of July. A good time with friends! My little friend A LOVED the parade! It was her idea to give the thumbs up!

So as you can see it has been a great summer! (sorry the pictures were out of order.

I meant to post this on Sunday...so there is a possibility that I will be posting twice today-breaking all sorts of bloggy rules. oh well. I have classroom pictures!

Vacuuming... yesterday afternoon and this morning are dedicated to house cleaning for me...

I went to school for the morning yesterday and this is what I saw out the window. Doesn't look like such a bad place to nap.

My truffula trees make me smile and they are nearly complete. Now I think I just need to draw myself some barbaloots...

I spent thursday miserable. I scratched my cornea...These eye drops work like a miracle-thank goodness.

They took my 3 extra tables! I now officially have my carpet area. So happy!!!Now for the mess-anyone want to come clean it all for me? just kidding sort of.

I swear my feet aren't actually that white... This is just me waiting on the eye to stop watering.

I bought these prints months ago and finally got the third one hung. They are just perfect.

It was a gray day at the the beach. The ocean is out there but you can't really see it... I love living at the beach!

Progress report # (I can't keep track...)

My new teacher chair! It is super comfortable and hides the cords from my computer/speakers and document camera that are behind it.

I went shopping with my mom yesterday. She picked me up at 6:30am and we drove the 2+ hours to the nearest big city (aka place with a target and ikea). We had planned to be there when Ikea opened...well we were actually an hour early. So we went to The Learning Palace. So much fun! (forgot to take a picture of all of the stuff I bought there...will take one tomorrow.) But here are some other pictures of the progress that has been made in the last few days...it doesn't seem like too much but it took a while and who am I kidding-I socialize when I am there too and I ask questions because I am in a new school. But here are the pictures nonetheless. (again I am arguing with blogger...one picture moved above my writing...how do I fix this?)

I got my truffula trees up today! I still need to add the stripes on the trunks and a few more trees but I LOVE them!(please excuse the disaster on my small group table!)

The clocks on the right are going to be labeled and set to important times of the day (lunch, recess, specials, etc)

More Pictures...and a sort of update.

Myself on the left with one of the preschool teachers at my old school. She is hilarious and I will miss her terribly! And she came in to help me-wonderful I tell you!

Blogger is giving me issues so hopefully this will work. I went to my old school last Wednesday to pack up and move to my new room. At the end of last year when I packed I packed with the intention that I was not going to be back this year. So I had already separated all of my stuff from the stuff that belongs to the school. Saved me SO much time in the long run! Sure I spent an entire extra week at the end of the year but  it saved me from losing a weeks worth of time in my new classroom! And had I stayed at the old school I think it would have been good just because everything was all organized.  So here are some pictures of the move and of my room. I have forgotten to take pictures the last couple of days! Promise to take more this week...taking them today would be a bit embarrassing because it is such a mess! But it's getting better. Oh and I got to meet my new teaching partner! She is hilarious, tiny (meaning I am 5'5 and I look straight over her head...it makes me look tall) and we are going to have a fabulous time in first grade! I spent 4.5 hours working in her classroom with her yesterday. We both got hired this summer. I moved into an empty room and she moved into a FULL room...the teacher before her left a LOT of stuff! I should have taken a picture of it all. It was crazy. I am headed to Portland with my mom tomorrow to visit Ikea, Target and the teacher store that is in the same area. Can't wait! Anyway here are the pictures I promised forever ago (ok they may have ended up being first...like I said I am having blogger issues).
