We had a very busy week in Kindergarten. Everyone was exhausted-one even fell asleep sitting up on the rug on Thursday afternoon and continued to sleep for the next 45 minutes. But the story I want to share happened after school on Friday with a little one who was late to be picked up.
We were sitting in the office.(students names on this blog are changed to crayola colors)
Me:"Red I need to go home."
Red:"Do you need to make dinner?"
Me:"Yes."
R: "How many kids to you have?"
Me: "I don't have any kids."
R: "Well you need to get married then!"
Me: "R I think that will have to wait a little while"
R: "Well you could have your wedding....(she thinks) when we don't have any school." (I think she meant this weekend because we had just discussed in class that we don't have any school on Saturday or Sunday)
Needless to say I walked out of the office laughing after she told me I should have corn, peas and chili with Milk to drink ("Milk is good for you!") for dinner.
Wouldn't it be nice to just be able to say exactly what you think all the time like a 5 year old does. They are so funny!
I now need to spend a few hours getting ready for next week...I have most of it planned just need to get the papers ready to copy and such.
My Grandpa is going to come and read my kids a story on Thursday! I think I might make them guess all week who is going to be coming to see them. I will give hints with the stories that I read to them...this should be fun!

School starts tomorrow...
and today I didn't get everything I needed to finish done...but not for lack of trying.
I have 24 kiddos, we start school at 8:30 and have an assembly at 9...ummm. Oh and the little one I met today-well I'm pretty sure she will cry tomorrow.
I will post tomorrow-if I don't fall asleep as I walk up the stairs when I get home.
Here's to hoping that the day goes well! If the kiddos I met the other night are any indication it will be great!

If you want to get this unit too then blog about it and send her your email in a comment on the above linked post before Sunday and she will email it to you.
And to make today better I have 5 new followers! Gotta love that! Can't wait to gather some other new ideas today!

it has been too long...
Well here is a list of the things I have gotten to do in first grade since my last post:
-go on a bear hunt! we went through the candy factory, the jello swamp and the peanut butter river and into the cave. And there were big green eyes, a little bushy tail and screaming 1st graders! (makes for a pretty good day)
-teaching a math lesson at the last second because two other first graders decided to have a shoving fight and my mentor is the intern principal.
-kindergarten testing...she was more worried about the fact that my hair clip was making a reflection on the ceiling than the letter sounds I was testing her on.
-provided LOTS of kleenex and hand soap.
-bleached the desks 4 times.
-taught a math lesson with my supervisor there at which point my students decided that the worksheet was far too hard and so I had to completely change the lesson plan that I had written (6 pages!) so that we could actually explain the concept like they needed...it all worked out in the end because she got to see me working on my toes
-got a LOT of hugs even when I am not sure I want them because all of the kids have booger noses.
It has been a very busy week in first grade and I think it's only going to get busier. Hopefully the candy highs are nearly over because I don't think I can handle it anymore. October was a LONG month. I only get to see my super bees once this week but I can't wait!
