July Currently.. On the first!

I have decided to blog again. I severely neglected my blog this year and I have come to the conclusion that I need to write to keep myself sane. So I have decided to write at least 1 time per week this summer. That is my goal.

Here is the promised currently.

 

Listening: Yes I am 24 and yes I watch General Hospital EVERY day. What can I say I am addicted. It started in college and has continued. Sometimes I get a few days behind then have to have a DVR GH marathon, today for example. Anyone else out in teacher blog land that watches?

Loving: I went to the middle of nowhere Eastern WA this weekend to meet my new nephew. He is ADORABLE. I love him and his sweet baby smell and snuggles. I did not however love the H-O-T weather and 8 hour drive each way. They live on a farm... A big farm.  Pictures later. 

Thinking: Laundry. I hate doing laundry. Actually no I don't hate doing the laundry I hate putting the laundry away. I have far too many clothes and every time I do laundry I remember that when they won't all fit in the drawers and closet... It's a problem I tell you. Maybe that is what I will complete this week-clothes purging. I also have a baby swaddler to make for a friend who is due to have a sweet baby girl any day. So excited to know someone having a GIRL! I have also been working on knitting a blanket for her. So that is something else to finish.

Wanting: Like I said I don't like laundry. Anyone love laundry who wants to come and do mine? J/k... sort of. 

Needing: yeah it's 8:00 and I have yet to eat dinner. I just got out of the car... don't know what to eat, mostly because I also need to go grocery shopping...

Tips, Tricks or hints: Don't neglect. This year I not only didn't write but I have also been neglecting my blog stalking this school year. I have missed you all!

I made the switch to Bloglovin. And I am loving it! Im going to admit I don't think that I ever really used google reader like you all did... There was just a feed that showed up under where I go to post.
Anyway I will o my best to post on Monday. Tomorrow I am headed to the middle of nowhere WA to meet my new nephew. He is ADORABLE. I can't wait to get baby snuggles. Coming home Sunday evening so depending on how tired I am I will post.
I have been reading a LOT of blogs and you all have inspired me to get off the couch and get something done. Well I might stay on the couch with my computer. But at least I will be doing something.

So I have completely neglected my blog... and blog friends.

I feel like I haven't been on here in a LONG time and my previous post shows that.
I had planned to write a couple times a week. But I have been absolutely exhausted or busy nearly every night.

Since I wrote last:
-I took a trip to Minnesota for Spring Break. I know most (sane) people go to the sun. I went to the snow.
-I found out (not quite officially) that I will teaching first again next year.
-I have not done anywhere near enough baking. I take that back I have done NO baking.
-I have spent far too much time on pinterest.
-I have gotten addicted to too many shows.
-I sound out I am going to be an Aunt again! Another nephew.
-I have what seems like a million friends having babies starting 3 weeks ago. There are MANY due end of this month and in June. (seriously 8 friends!)
-I have missed laughing about all of the insane things that your students do.
-I have decided that I really need to start blogging again because it helped me feel like I wasn't the only teacher getting frustrated with the ridiculous things that my students do.
-I get to go to Outdoor School with our 6th graders next week! Which means I have to write 3 days worth of sub plans! ugh. But it will absolutely be worth it! I can't wait to be back at ODS.

That is my life in a nut shell.
Oh and I got sunburned this weekend because it was 80+ degrees here on the Southern WA coast!

It has been far too long...again

I once again have neglected my blog...
I can't actually remember when the last post was-and I'm too lazy to go and figure out in my history...

So here goes. I am going back to Kindergarten next year!!!!! I can't wait! I have enjoyed first grade but I have missed Kinder sooooooo much!

I also got to spend 3 days at Outdoor School with our sixth graders. I had an absolute blast. 6th graders are a different breed but they certainly are hilarious.

Next on the list I am considering buying a house. It's either that or find a new place to rent... I really hate moving so buying a house is the most logical conclusion right?
Then I only have to move once :)

Now I am watching the Bachelorette. It is thoroughly entertaining to watch this with my roommate she makes hilarious comments. Such as, "This would be so much better if I was drunk." Some of these guys are completely nuts! We have already made our choices. Juan Pablo doesn't stand a chance...I hope.

Oh and I am 10 followers away from 100!

Short one today

Once again I have been neglecting my blog. I hope to start posting again soon... We have been doing fun things in first grade.
So for today I will just share a funny.

Another long week.

At 7:45 I asked if it would be ridiculous for me to go to bed... I'm exhausted. That's it. Just plain exhausted.
Been a good week so far. My reading I block underwent a complete overhaul- and I am very happy with it. Here are a couple pictures of things that happened today.

Trying to keep up with resolutions...

So I made a resolution to blog more. Because as 2012 came to a close I just plain stopped. Not just writing on my blog but reading other blogs. And well...I missed everyone! I spent part of my morning today reading up on some of my favorites. I have also been doing my lesson plans for the week.
So I am teaching 1st grade this year. I have been doing spelling tests... I have decided to change it up a bit. So I have a plan in my head. But I have a question for you.

HOW DO YOU TEACH SPELLING IN YOUR CLASS? 

I have seen it many ways and I know how I want to try it but I am always looking for ideas.

We started science this week. Foss kit: Solids and Liquids. I have never taught this one before. The kids are so excited that we get to do science! (felt like a bad teacher that we hadn't done any earlier in the year) So I am also looking for anything that you may do to supplement this unit... there are activities but do you have anything super fun and engaging to help with the learning. I am thinking we will be making ice cream in baggies to (liquid-->solid) and make sundaes on Feb. 13th for Valentines since we get a long weekend and don't have school on the 14th :)

In math we were doing subtraction that either subtracted a 0 or resulted in 0. I was helping a little one and I told her, "After you understand this you will be so excited." Well she completed about 4 problems, looked up at me and said, "MY MIND IS BLOWN!" I just started laughing. That was one time where I couldn't hold it in. SO funny!

I really need to go make the worksheets I need for the week...lesson plans are complete though--except for reading groups. Now need to make the materials. TPT here I come :)

We are starting a Penguin unit. I am so excited! I love teaching about Penguins!

Have a fabulous week! I think for now I will try to post 1 time a week. Then work my way up to 2 or 3 posts a week. Baby steps!

Oh and speaking of babies I know 5 people having babies this year! 3 have found out the gender and all 3 are boys! I love babies and boy things are cute. But I'm ready to buy some pink :) The other 2 find out in the next couple weeks...fingers crossed for at least a little pink.
